Katie Morag and the two Grandmothers Whole Class Reading Sequence

£4.25

This teaching sequence focuses primarily on the key skills of inferring meaning from what is stated and implied, and being able to retrieve key information from the text whilst also drawing in other skills relevant to the reading aspect of the national curriculum.

To ensure the teaching sequence is as flexible as possible, we have planned for approximately two weeks of reading sessions with time to allocate additional tasks to children. Discussion points are suggested throughout and where possible answers have been provided to support teaching.

This teaching sequence pack includes:

  • Detailed lesson outlines

  • A Comprehension Quiz to use after reading

  • A photocopiable Picture Dictionary resource

  • A photocopiable Role on the Wall sheet

  • A photocopiable Prediction resource

  • A photocopiable Story Mountain sheet

We’ve pitched this planning at children in Year 1 and Year 2.
