Too Much Stuff! Guided Reading Pack

£4.25

About this resource

Too Much Stuff is set in the same forest as Emily Gravett’s award-winning Tidy. It features a host of gorgeous woodland animals, including Pete the badger. It warns against the dangers of collecting too much stuff and introduces the importance of recycling useful things! A great text to launch the topic ‘conservation’ and children respond very well when reading this text after having read ‘Tidy.’

This teaching sequence focuses on retrieval and reading with fluency and expression. It is aimed at Y1 children. However, it can be easily adapted to meet the needs of Year 2 or even lower KS2 children (we have included some ideas and prompts for Year 2).  It is intended that there are sufficient activities in this teaching sequence to engage your children in meaningful learning for one week of guided reading lessons.

This plan can also be easily adapted to be delivered as a sequence of whole class guided reading sessions. There are also some fantastic writing opportunities mentioned throughout using this text as a wonderful writing stimulus.

This teaching sequence includes:

  • A guided reading lesson plan in an editable word document format

  • A photocopiable set of comprehension questions for independent or teacher/ TA supported work.

  • A wordsearch suitable for independent work

  • A writing a list activity

  • A rhyming couplets game

The book is not included in this pack.
